Miron Muslic: Nürnberg deserved to win
After the clash between the two clubs, in which 1. FC Nürnberg ran out as 3-0 winners, Miron Muslic and FCN head coach Miroslav Klose spoke about the match at the Max-Morlock-Stadion. Timo Becker and Edin Džeko also looked back at the encounter. We’ve gathered the most important quotes below.
Miron Muslic:
Nürnberg deserved to win – and by a big margin, too. They worked hard for the result and used their chances well. We also had clear-cut chances, though we squandered these opportunities. The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. It’s always special when Schalke play FCN. In the press conference before the game, I said that we were going to be hosted by friends. Having the chance to experience something like this is a standout moment and a privilege. Now, I’m looking forward to travelling back on the train with many of the members of staff at the club and then to the final game of the season against Braunschweig. There, we want to play like champions, win the game and celebrate together with our fans.
Miroslav Klose:
The atmosphere that both groups of fans created was unbelievable. It was exactly the kind of atmosphere I was hoping for in our last home game of the season. This evening was a lot of fun. I’d like to give my team a compliment for the way they played and the energy they brought. It was a fantastic team performance. We made a lot of sound, clever decisions and could’ve even scored a couple more goals.
Timo Becker:
I play every game to win. This time, we didn’t manage to bring our style of play to the pitch. For that reason, we deserved to lose. On the whole, Nürnberg were more tenacious and aggressive. In the final game of the season against Eintracht Braunschweig, we want to show another side of ourselves again.
Edin Džeko:
The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. But I don’t like losing. The legs were maybe a but heavy after the promotion celebrations. But that’s not an excuse. We could’ve done better over the 90 minutes. But today, I can deal with the result.
