FC Schalke 04 Esports to enter eFootball.Pro competition
FC Schalke 04 Esports has joined the competition that eFootball.Pro and KONAMI are creating together. Schalke is the second club to be announced as participant of the league, after FC Barcelona’s announcement last February.
The new project is an additional opportunity to further expand the clubs presence in electronic sports: “FC Schalke 04 was one of the pioneering sports clubs worldwide to incorporate its very own esports department. We opt to expand our commitment even further and venture out into different branches as well,” club’s Chief Gaming Officer, Tim Reichert, said.
The executive added: “We are looking forward to joining the competition by eFootball.Pro and KONAMI. Our participation allows us to establish our brand also internationally and continue competing at the highest level. We believe that this league with teams like FC Barcelona will be such a great event for us and our fans, in which we will be able to further showcase our expertise and effort”.
eFootball.Pro president and founder Gerard Piqué is delighted with the new incorporation: “We are very happy with this signing for eFootball.Pro. Schalke has a lot of experience in esports and will help us achieve a quality competition”. “Schalke 04 will be a very tough opponent to Barça, but so will be the other teams that will be announced to join the competition. We want to create a reference league within electronic sports and are sure that we will surprise both current fans and those who will be in the future”, he added.
“We are excited to have Schalke 04 named as a part of our new and illustrious esports league that eFootball.Pro and KONAMI are creating,” said Masami Saso, President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “We said how ambitious this club is, both on and off the pitch, and believe their participation further validates the eFootball.Pro league and we look forward to the level of professional talent Schalke 04 will introduce to the esports world.”
FC Schalke 04 will have a professional team in the eFootball.Pro competition, which will compete using the KONAMI’s football video game series. In this new league they will challenge FC Barcelona and other top level clubs, which will be unveiled soon.
