FIFA eNations Cup: Two Royal Blues join DFB squad

The FIFA eNations Cup will take place on April 13th and 14th. For the first virtual team World Cup FIFA has invited 20 nations from all six confederations (UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, CAF, OFC and AFC). Two Royal Blues join the squad of the DFB. This was announced by the German Football Association on Sunday (31.3.) in Frankfurt.

The German Football Association invited the 20 best FIFA players in Germany to a joint workshop in Frankfurt. The focus of the event was setting the course for a common sporting future. With Tim “Tim Latka” Schwartmann and Philipp “Eisvogel” Schermer the DFB nominated two Royal Blues for the expanded squad of the first Esport national team.

“We are very happy to announce that Tim and Philipp have been nominated for the DFB’s Esport selection, both of whom have made a name for themselves over the past weeks and months and have earned the invitation to the Esport national team,” saidTim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer of FC Schalke 04 Esports. “We joined Esport as one of the first Bundesliga clubs in May 2016. Now talking about a selection of the best players in Germany, is a success that we have supported significantly with our engagement as a club!”

The national football team of the German Football Association meets Norway, Sweden, Argentina and Brazil in the group stage. This was the result of the draw at FIFA headquarters in Zurich. Germany therefore joins Group C. The two best teams of each group move into the knockout round.
