FIFA: Philipp Schermer leaves Royal Blue

On August 31st, 2019 the contract of Philipp "Eisvogel" Schermer ends. FC Schalke 04 Esports has decided not to extend further with the FIFA professional.

„Philipp is an exemplary professional. I am happy about the development he has made at Schalke and about the fact that we went this way together with him. In the end, however, we have decided to focus our attention on developing and promoting talents from the region – as our Knappenschmiede has been living in football for years now. We would like to thank Philip for the professional cooperation and wish him all the best for his future,“ explained Tim Reichert, S04 Chief Gaming Officer.

Schermer, who has played in competitions under the nickname „Eisvogel“ since 2017, added: „I have not always been able to live up to my high standards this year. Nevertheless, I can take a few positives from the season. I already said it: Schalke was not only a big step for me from a sporting point of view. I learned a lot at Schalke and have developed in many ways. I am very grateful to the club, the responsible persons and the fans for this opportunity and for the trust that has been placed in me over the past months. I wish FC Schalke 04 all the best for the upcoming season. “

With a remarkable performance in the 2017/2018 season, the 20-year-old recommended for a place in the miners‘ squad. Over the past few months, Schermer has been making a name for himself, especially in the VBL Club Championship, and helped bring Royal Blue a sixth place in the Virtual League with his performance on the PlayStation 4. At the VBL Grand Final Schermer made it into the round of the top eight.
