LEC: Royal Blue misses qualification for "Worlds 2019"

The semifinals of the LEC 2019 Regional Qualifiers between Royal Blue and Splyce were played on Saturday (14.9.) in the Berlin studios of Riot Games. With a significant performance in the season 2019, S04 Esports qualified successfully for the semifinals.

Royal Blue met in the semifinals of the LEC 2019 Regional Qualifiers on the US esport organization Splyce. The spectators in Berlin – including numerous supporters of the Royal Blues – saw an open exchange of two teams who had the same goal in mind: the qualification for the League of Legends World Championship 2019. To the disappointment of the miners, however, the Americans decided the first match of the In the evening for themselves. In the following game Schalke pressed for the equalizer, but Splyce also decided the second round for themselves.

Royal Blue left no stone unturned to turn the tide. And at first it looked as if the young miners would succeed. Schalke played concentrated, but found themselves forced to take risks: After the miners successfully prevailed against the “Baron”, Splyce took advantage of the hour to overwhelm the Royal Blues. After about 30 minutes, the US Esport organization also decided the third match of the evening for themselves. As a result, the Royal Blues lost the semifinals of the LEC 2019 Regional Qualifiers to the US Esport organization and failed to qualify for the 2019 League of Legends World Cup.

The disappointment was written in the miners’ faces: “You can see it in the faces of our players,” explains Tim Reichert, FC Schalke 04 Esports’ Chief Gaming Officer, shortly after the “final whistle” and continues: “Understandably, at such a moment, disappointment predominates. But we will not be discouraged by a defeat. Any setback on our way has brought us back stronger, every success has confirmed us in our decision. Today we were maybe the second winners, but we can be very satisfied with the whole season and our development. We finished the Summer Split in fourth place, fought as one of the best European teams in Athens for the summer championship and were in the semifinals of the Regional Qualifiers. We can be proud of that and we will continue in the upcoming season! ”

FC Schalke 04 Esports finished the summer split 2019 with eleven wins in fourth place. In the LEC 2019 Summer Playoffs, the miners had to prevail against Team Vitality and Rogue before they successfully qualified for the finals in Athens. For the second time Schalke managed to enter the finals of the European top competition. Last year, the League of Legends squad got defeated by Fnatic in the finals of the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS). More than half a million people watched the clash. This year, the finals in Athens attracted nearly 900,000 spectators. With the loss to Splyce on Saturday (14.9.) the League of Legends season 2019 ends for Schalke.
