LEC: Royal Blue wins the quarter-finals and flies to Athens

With a clear victory (3:1) over Team Vitality on Saturday (24.8.), the Royal Blues entered the quarter-finals of the LEC 2019 Summer Playoffs. There, Schalke met Rogue.

The Friday evening was initially not as the Royal Blues had imagined: In the first of five possible matches the miners‘ team had to cope with a clear and equally disappointing defeat. Undeterred by the initial setback, Schalke kept its‘ focus. Royal Blue remained calm and fought back: With a sovereign victory in the second match of the evening, the miners were able to equalize the score (1:1). Also in the following game, the team of head coach Dylan „Dylan Falco“ Falco could again refer the Americans to second place. The miners took the lead (2:1).

Athens seemed closer than ever. Only one more victory separated the Royal Blues from the semi-finals. Willing to decide the quarter-finals prematurely, Lipp and his teammates started. Rogue, however, had not given up yet but struggled to find his way back to the competition: Around 40 minutes, both teams gave it it all. Rogue also tried his best to keep the dream of the semi-final alive. In the end, however, it was the S04 Esports who won the fourth match and thus the quarter-finals of the LEC 2019 Summer Playoffs, thus taking the ticket for the round of the best three in Athens. In the semi-final, Royal Blue will face the loser from G2 Esports versus Fnatic on Saturday (7.9.).
