PES newcomer Urma: "Dream came true"

With Adrian “Urma” Urma (on the left side of the picture), Schalke 04 Esports has an international newcomer in the newly established PES team. The 23-year-old Romanian has been playing the virtual soccer game of our partner KONAMI since he was nine and reached the semifinals of the eEuro 2020 with his home country. Now he wants to go high with the Royal Blues. Before the start of the new eFootball.Pro season on December 12th, we talked to our new player about his move to S04 and his goals.

Welcome to Schalke, Urma! Why did you decide to come to S04?

Adrian “Urma” Urma: Schalke is a big club with a long tradition. I was thrilled when the offer came and didn’t have to think twice. I am very proud that I can now represent S04 in PES. At this point I would also like to thank my new team-mate “MeroMen”, who believes in my abilities and has played his part in making the move work.

Did you already know Schalke 04 well before?

Absolutely. Together with my father, I watched some S04 soccer games on TV as a child. But I haven’t been to the VELTINS-Arena yet. Hopefully that will change soon. (laughs)

How popular are the Royal Blues in Romania overall?

Schalke 04 is known in Romania as a big German club. Some football fans from my home country know about the club mainly because two former Romanian national football players, Ciprian Marica and Ciprian Deac, played here.

Although I've only been at Schalke for a short time, a close friendship has already developed between us. The chemistry in the team is right and I can hardly wait for the eFootball.Pro season to start.

In the new PES team you play together with Mehrab “MeroMen” Esmailian and Mike “EL_Matador” Linden. How well do you know each other?

We didn’t have any direct contact before, but of course I knew them both as professional players who have been part of the PES elite for many years. I am happy that I can now compete with them. Although I’ve only been at Schalke for a short time, a close friendship has already developed between us. The chemistry in the team is right and I can hardly wait for the eFootball.Pro season to start.

What are your strengths that make you better than others?

I always want to improve and I have an absolute will to win every game. On every training day, I set myself the goal of taking a step forward. I also think that my unpredictability in the offense allows me to set myself apart from competitors.

The new season in KONAMI’s eFootball.Pro begins on Saturday, December 12th – Arsenal FC is the first opponent. What are your goals with S04?

We are aiming for a top 6 position after Schalke finished last season in last place. I am sure that we have the potential to do so and I will give everything to achieve this goal.

Among others, champion Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Manchester United participate. Which clubs have the best chances for a title?

It’s hard to say because the level of performance is very high and there is no clear favorite. Only after the first few weeks of the season will it be seen who will play for the title.

Do you have a big dream as a PES professional?

A dream came true when I signed the contract at Schalke. I’ve always wanted to play for a professional club and take part in the eFootball.Pro. That’s why I find it difficult to put into words my anticipation for the season opener against Arsenal London. But my biggest dream is to win a trophy with the national team from Romania.
