Pro Evolution Soccer: S04 Esports signs Winkler brothers

Two new additions to Schalke: The Knappen announce the commitment of Dennis "wide" Winkler and Matthias "GoooL" Winkler. The brothers from Lennep compete for S04 Esports in the football simulation Pro Evolution Soccer published by KONAMI.

FC Schalke 04 is part of the competition of eFootball.Pro, a new format for the successful football simulation Pro Evolution Soccer. The Knappen are thus the second top club that joins the virtual league – in February, the FC Barcelona had already announced its participation. With Dennis „wide“ Winkler (29) and Matthias „GoooL“ Winkler (35) are now two experienced PES professionals in the clubs roster.

The multiple German champions are impressed by their new club: „FC Schalke 04 is one of the most traditional football clubs in the world. Being able to play PES for Schalke fills me with pride. The discussions with those responsible were very exciting and constructive – we did not have to think twice about signing, „reveals Dennis Winkler. His brother adds: „FC Schalke 04 is one of the first football clubs ever to be involved in esports, and I was impressed by how professionally esports is approached and tackled by the entire club. You can feel that people are working here fully convinced of this young sport. In sporting terms, I look forward to exciting duels with other European top clubs.“

The two brothers from the Bergisch Land have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer since they were children – often against each other. From the passion for the football simulation of the Japanese publisher KONAMI quickly grew the desire to take part in further competitions in order to prove their own skills there. Meanwhile, several German Championships, a Vice European Championship and the semi-final participation in the World Cup 2011 tell the success story of the Winkler duo. In 2017, Matthias Winkler won the kicker PES Cup.
