S04 joins the Esports Forum of the International OIympic Committee

Organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), The Esports Forum will bring together leading figures within the esports industry and the Olympic Movement to discuss opportunities for further engagement and interaction. Tim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer at FC Schalke 04 and FIFA-professional Tim Schwartmann join the Esports Forum.

The Esports Forum will take place on Friday (20.7.) and Saturday (21.7.) in Lausanne, Switzerland. In the Olympic Museum, Forum participants will be invited to a joint dinner on Friday to begin this historic event. Saturday’s program includes several panels, one-on-one interviews, interactive discussions and networking opportunities. In addition to FC Schalke 04 – represented by Chief Gaming Officer, Tim Reichert and FIFA professional Tim Schwartmann – leading players in the sport, manufacturers, promoters, players and teams, broadcasters, the media and representatives of the Olympic Movement are among the guests of the Esport Forums.

Royal Blues to earn 26,5 Mio. euros from sale of LEC slot

FC Schalke 04 has made the decision to sell the starting place in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) to the Swiss esports organisation Team BDS for a total sum of 26,5 Mio. euros. The transfer of license rights will come into force in the spring season 2022. After four years, the Royal Blues are withdrawing from the top European League of Legends competition. The decision on the continuation of the involvement in the football simulations FIFA and PES as well as in the League of Legends Prime League is still pending.

The royal blue League of Legends pros achieved a strong fourth place in their first ever play-off participation in a Spring Split. After an impressive win against Fnatic, Schalke was beaten 1-3 by title co-favourite Rogue.

LEC: Perfect week secures playoff spot

The royal blue League of Legends team did it again! After the sensational Miracle Run last season, Schalke moved into the playoffs of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) in the Spring Split 2021. With three wins in a row, S04 Esports even climbed to fourth place in the final week of the group phase.
