League of Legends: Stückenschneider leaves FC Schalke 04 Esports

The Royal Blues will be developing new structures in the sporting leadership of their League of Legends Academy team: The 25-year-old Maurice Stückenschneider leaves Royal Blue with immediate effect. Both FC Schalke 04 Esports and Maurice Stückenschneider agreed unanimously on dissolving the contract prematurely.

In the summer of 2018, Maurice Stückenschneider joined Royal Blue. With FC Schalke 04 Esports he reached the final of the European League of Legends Championship. In December 2018, the 25-year-old took over responsibility for the miners’ League of Legends academy team. „Last year, we were able to celebrate a major sporting success in the European championship, and I’m particularly proud of the fact that I was given the responsibility for promoting young talents at Schalke. I’m grateful to FC Schalke 04 Esports for offering me the opportunity to take the next step in my career, to develop myself and pass on my knowledge to a younger generation, but I realized that it might be too early to withdraw as an active player,“ Maurice Stückenschneider explains his decision. „We maintain a very transparent exchange on Schalke, so I approached Tim Reichert with my request. He was understanding and complied. I am very grateful to him – and to Schalke.“

„We have always worked together in a trusting manner with Maurice. When he came up with the wish to leave FC Schalke 04 Esports in order to further pursue his esports career as an active player, we could not and would not want to decline his request. Although we deplore his decision, we thank Maurice for his work over the past year and wish him every success for the future,“ explains Tim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer at FC Schalke 04 Esports, adding: „His career is an example of the sustainable approach we are pursuing at Schalke: We always try to develop each’s members strength. We will be introducing the succession plan for our League of Legends academy team in due course.“
