S04 to face Hertha BSC in opening game of 2. Bundesliga season

FC Schalke 04 will kick off the new second division season with a home game against Hertha BSC on Friday, 1st August. Kick off at the VELTINS-Arena will be at 20:30 CEST.

“Starting the campaign on a Friday evening at our Arena will be great. It will be a superb occasion to kick off the new season,” said director for professional football Youri Mulder. “Hertha will be a tough opponent and we will prepare ourselves accordingly.”

The DFL will reveal the full fixture list at 14:00 CEST on Friday (27/6).

This season’s winter break begins after matchday 17 (19th to 21st December), with teams returning to league action from 16th January 2026. The 34th and final matchday is scheduled for 17th May 2026.

Schalke begin pre-season training

Around 3,000 fans attended FC Schalke 04’s first training session of the new season on Saturday (21/6). The players and coaching team took time after training to sign autographs and take photos with supporters, with new coach Miron Muslic and new signings Timo Becker and Soufiane El-Faouzi all in high demand.

Squad update ahead of first pre-season training session

Following the completion of internal performance and medical tests, FC Schalke 04 are set for their first training session under new head coach Miron Muslic on Saturday (21/6). The session will be open to the public and will begin at 10:45 CEST, with several members of the squad unable to take part.

S04 open pre-season with medical checks and performance tests

The first group of first-team players completed a series of medical checks and performance tests at medicos.AufSchalke on Thursday (19/6), presented by S04 partner Knappschaft Kliniken. A second group of players will undergo the same procedures on Friday (20/6).
