Bryan Lasme: Give everything for this team
Bryan Lasme had at least a couple of reasons to be cheerful on Easter Sunday (5/4). Not only did the forward enjoy a return to action following a spell out injured for multiple months, but he also got to enjoy the jubilant celebrations at the VELTINS-Arena following Schalke’s 1-0 win over visitors Karlsruher SC.
“When the coach let me know that he was about to bring me on, I was delighted. Coming on was a really emotional moment for me. I loved hearing all the applause from the fans,” said the Frenchman, who replaced Moussa Sylla for the closing stages of the match. He almost managed to crown his return to action with a goal in added time, although he was ultimately unable to beat KSC keeper Hans-Christian Bernat.
I loved hearing all the applause from the fans.
The missed opportunity didn’t bring anybody down for too long, however, as the final whistle blew soon after the squandered chance. Joyful scenes in front of the Nordkurve followed, which Lasme and co. clearly enjoyed hugely . “I’ve missed these moments,” said the 27-year-old. “They give you such a boost for the coming weeks.”
There are six games to go until the end of the season. Lasme shared his thoughts on the situation: “We’ll keep focusing on each game as it comes, and we’re only concentrating on ourselves.” This motto on how to approach their football has served the team well over recent months, and they’ll continue to operate that way moving forward.
Lasme declared his intention to come up with a few decisive moments in the run-in, just as he developed a knack for doing in the first half of the season. “I’ll give everything for this team,” promised the striker, who managed to bag the winning goal in the DFB-Pokal tie in Leipzig, as well as in the league against Bochum and Paderborn.
