Moussa Sylla: I want to write my own story

Moussa Sylla made the perfect return to action following a lengthy injury absence in last weekend’s fixture away to SpVgg Greuther Fürth (30/3). The striker netted the stoppage-time equaliser to level the scores at 3-3 and has since spoken to schalke04.de about his take on the game, as well as his aims and an interesting comparison.

Moussa Sylla on ...

… making his comeback in Fürth:

It felt great to be back out on that pitch. The past weeks have been tough going because I always want to be playing. However, I used the time to work hard on being as strong as I could when I returned and I am pleased to be able to give it my all in training once again.

… the comparison which director of professional football Youri Mulder made to former Netherlands striker Roy Makaay after the game:

Roy Makaay was a great player so thank you very much to Youri for the compliment. Those sorts of comments make me proud, but at the same time I want to write my own story.

Sometimes things need to be talked about clearly and approached head-on in order to get a reaction out of the team and for those things to be improved.

Moussa Sylla

… recent criticism regarding the team’s defensive work:

Sometimes things need to be talked about clearly and approached head-on in order to get a reaction out of the team and for those things to be improved. The defensive work is a clear focus for us and is one that concerns each and every player, starting with us forwards.

… his targets for the remainder of the season:

There aren’t specific numbers of goals in my mind that I’m looking to reach; rather, I just want to help the team achieve the greatest success that we can from this position. I will give everything I can towards that aim, showing hunger until the end and hopefully scoring some goals along the way.
