Karel Geraerts: We scored at the right moments
FC Schalke 04 scored four goals and kept a clean sheet on their way to picking up a crucial three points against VfL Osnabrück on Friday (1/12). Read on for all the post-match reaction from Karel Geraerts, Uwe Koschinat and Ralf Fährmann.
Karel Geraerts:
A 4-0 win feels great. What was important to me was to see my team get off to a good start. My players were there right from the start and were playing with confidence. We were dangerous from set pieces and scored at the right moments. The mood at half time was clear: we didn’t just want to sit back and defend our lead, we wanted to score a second. Our confidence grew after the second goal and my players were able to find the right spaces. The most important thing for myself, the team and the entire club is that we picked up three points. It was great to see how the team reacted after coming through such a tough week.
Uwe Koschinat:
Congratulations to FC Schalke 04 on a deserved victory. During the first half, I saw a team that defended extremely well. The team did well to cut off any deep runs. We lacked confidence when in possession; we need to work on this. The game was effectively over after we conceded to make it 3-0.
Ralf Fährmann:
We tried to do several things differently compared to in recent weeks. Recently, we’ve struggled to find our way into the game and to find our footing. Today, it was a different story: we were getting stuck in right from the start and were able to dominate the game. We made sure to prepare well once again for the game, but this time we were also able to show it out on the pitch. There’s no doubt that we have quality as a team, and today we were able to prove that and deservedly won. A performance like the one tonight is just what we need. The three points are extremely important, but at the end of the day, it’s just one game.
