S04 open pre-season with medical checks and performance tests

The first group of first-team players completed a series of medical checks and performance tests at medicos.AufSchalke on Thursday (19/6), presented by S04 partner Knappschaft Kliniken. A second group of players will undergo the same procedures on Friday (20/6).

“The first two days are being used to put all our players through comprehensive tests. That will allow us to generate a large amount of useable data to inform our decisions in pre-season,” said Youri Mulder, S04’s director for professional football. “We can then use it to determine each player’s individual workload. Additionally, we are also conducting all of the prescribed medical checks.”

The team’s first session on the training pitch will take place on Saturday (21/6, 10:45 CEST). Following the end of the session, players will be available to sign autographs along the advertising boards surrounding the pitch. 

Additionally, a free livestream of the session will be available to watch on the club’s official YouTube channel – presented by HRS.

Dates for pre-season preparation scheduled

The FC Schalke 04 senior team will begin preparations ahead of the 2025/26 season on Thursday, 19th June. The first two days will consist of performance and medical tests at medicos.AufSchalke, presented by S04 partner Knappschaft Kliniken. The opening session on the training pitches will follow on Saturday, 21st June. Exact times and further information will be provided in due course.

Season ends with 2-1 defeat at home against Elversberg

FC Schalke 04 were beaten 2-1 by SV Elversberg on Sunday (18/5). The visitors therefore booked their place in the relegation play-off by finishing third, where they will compete against 1. FC Heidenheim for a place in the Bundesliga next season. The Royal Blues, meanwhile, ended 2024/25 in 14th place.
