Justin Heekeren: We need to be more dangerous in the final third
Kees van Wonderen, Justin Heekeren and Paul Seguin, as well as Thomas Wörle, SSV Ulm 1846 coach, all spoke to the media after FC Schalke 04’s goalless draw away at the ‘Sparrows’ on Friday night (1/11).
Kees van Wonderen:
Our performance wasn’t good enough. The players realised against Augsburg that they could play a lot better, but unfortunately couldn’t show that this evening. We need to get the players into a good mental state so that they can play with more confidence. It’s important that we create more chances.
Thomas Wörle:
We gave a lot across the 90 minutes as we tried to win the game. We had more of the chances in the first half and kept things pretty tight in our own box. We could have been ahead at half time. We were lacking a bit of luck in the final third in the second half too.
Justin Heekeren:
We wanted three points from today’s game. Although we finally managed to keep a clean sheet, we need to be more dangerous in the final third. It’s important that we find the right balance between being solid at the back and still having an attacking threat.
Paul Seguin:
We wanted to play a simple and direct style of football in the first 15 to 20 minutes and that helped us. We were lacking a balance at times. We didn’t create enough chances in the second half. A point isn’t enough for us, but we’ll move on. We need to take the positives from the last two games, as well discuss what didn’t go as well.
