Loris Karius: Not a pretty win, but an important one

FC Schalke 04’s 1-0 victory over Preußen Münster on Friday night (28/2) was largely down to the performance of debutant Loris Karius. Youri Mulder: Show a reaction against Münster

FC Schalke 04 endured a bad day on Sunday (23/2) away against SV Darmstadt 98. Two early goals condemned the Royal Blues to a 2-0 defeat and, if that wasn’t bad enough, Max Grüger was sent off and Zaid Tchibara went off injured late on. The 19-year-old attacker has suffered a suspected ACL injury, the worst news of the day for Youri Mulder, the club’s director for professional football.

Kees van Wonderen: Another tough test awaits

FC Schalke 04 take on SV Darmstadt 98 on Sunday (23/2) at 13:30 CET, with their opponents sitting just two points below them in the league table. Nevertheless, that means Kees van Wonderen’s side have the chance to establish some breathing room by extending the gap between the teams to five points. The head coach is acutely aware of the fact that getting a result against the Lilies is far from a given, however.
