Simon Terodde scored both goals for the Royal Blues as they enjoyed a 2-1 win over Sandhausen, who sit in third place in the Rückrunde table. The 12,345 capacity crowd was made up of a good portion of Schalke fans who were able to celebrate Terodde’s late winner, which saw their side regain top spot in the 2. Bundesliga after Werder Bremen lost at home to Holstein Kiel at the same time.
