Sylla and Karaman both score in 2-2 draw at Magdeburg

FC Schalke 04 picked up a point on Sunday (25/8) away to 1. FC Magdeburg on matchday 3. Kenan Karaman’s header in the 76th minute got S04 back on level terms after two home goals at the end of the first half had cancelled out Moussa Sylla’s opener.

FC Schalke 04 lost at a sold-out Max-Morlock-Stadion on Saturday (10/8) despite a strong first half which saw the Royal Blues go into the break 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Ibrahima Cissé (45’). After a controversial red card for Ron Schallenberg in injury time of the first half, 1. FC Nürnberg turned the game around after the interval thanks to goals from Lukas Schleimer (47’), Caspar Jander (56’) and Rafael Lubach (76’).

After six weeks of pre-season, including the training camp in Mittersill and a number of friendlies, FC Schalke 04 host Eintracht Braunschweig on matchday 1 of the new season at the VELTINS-Arena on Saturday night (3/8) at 20:30 CEST. Karel Geraerts is looking forward to the start of the 2024/25 campaign: “I’m excited about the atmosphere at the ground. We feel ready to put in a good performance,” said the head coach.

The DFL announced more dates and times for fixtures on Thursday (18/7). Between matchdays 3 and 7, FC Schalke 04 will play twice on a Friday, twice on a Sunday and once on a Saturday night.
