Schalke 04 sign Hasan Kurucay

FC Schalke 04 have strengthened their defence with the signing of Hasan Kurucay, who joins the Royal Blues on a contract running until 30th June 2027. The 27-year-old spent last season playing for Belgian top-flight side OH Leuven, having previously spent a year and a half at Eintracht Braunschweig. He will wear the number 4 shirt at Schalke.

In the friendly against Sevilla on Saturday (26/7), Schalke’s Moussa Sylla hammered home a powerful spot kick to halve the deficit to 2-1. Despite the eventual 4-2 defeat to the Spanish side, he was satisfied with the performance and with the five weeks of pre-season. Looking forward to the start of 2. Bundesliga action, the striker seemed just as determined as he was from 12 yards.

FC Schalke 04, wearing their new home kit on Schalke Day 2025, were beaten 4-2 by Spanish top-flight side Sevilla in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday (26/7). Moussa Sylla and Mauro Zalazar both scored in the second half for the Royal Blues.

Kenan Karaman: I’m now back in full training

One player that got a particularly loud cheer during the official presentation of the team at Schalke Day 2025 was Kenan Karaman. The S04 captain was impressed with how many fans turned up on Saturday (26/7). “After the past few weeks, where I haven’t been able to train with the team due to my injury, it feels great to receive such a warm welcome from the fans,” said Karaman. “The fact that so many fans came to Schalke Day again was amazing.”

Steve Noode joins Union Titus Pétange on loan

Young defender Steve Noode has agreed another loan move away from FC Schalke 04. He will spend the 2025/26 season with Union Titus Pétange in Luxembourg’s top flight to gain more match experience in Europe. Sidney Sam, FC Schalke 04’s loan manager, will keep a close eye on Noode during his time away from the club.
