Christian Heidel predicted Naldo’s injury-time goal

The Royal Blues made history with the 4-4 draw in Saturday’s derby.Bayern Munich are the only other team in Bundesliga history to have ever scored points after going four goals down, when they pulled off miraculous feat in September 1976. Bayern Munich won 6-5 back then after going 4-0 down against VfL Bochum.

Amine Harit gritted his teeth

The Revierderby looked to be over for Amine Harit. The Moroccan international had to be extensively treated on the pitchside after Gonzalo Castro’s foul in the 78th minute. Harit was hobbling on the sidelines, suffering from sharp pain in his calf.

The Royal Blues managed to come back from 4-0 down at half-time to get a deserved draw against Borussia Dortmund. The unbelievable second half comeback from Schalke saw them get a point to take back to Gelsenkirchen.

A special game but same preparations

Domenico Tedesco faces his first Revierderby as the Royal Blues’ head coach. “I’m really looking forward to the game. Football lives on emotion, especially at Schalke,” says the 32-year-old ahead of the 151st competitive game between the blue and whites and the black and yellows on Saturday (25th November, KO 15:30 CET) in Dortmund. Despite all the rivalry, the most important thing is that the game is fair and square, according to the head coach.

Christian Heidel: competition for places is healthy

The Royal Blues are undefeated in seven games and go into the Revierderby second in the table. This is no reason for unmitigated euphoria though. “No team ever secured their position as second in the table after only 12 matchdays,” said sporting director Christian Heidel. Former Freiburg man Daniel Caliguiri strikes

Daniel Caligiuri scored the goal of the day on Saturday (04/11) in Freiburg. His effort helped the Royal Blues climb to fourth place in the table but the midfielder held back on his celebration. “Obviously I was pleased,” said the 29-year-old. “But for me, I was clearly not going to celebrate excessively.”
