Head coach Karel Geraerts wasn’t unhappy after FC Schalke 04’s 2-0 friendly defeat against Leeds United on Saturday (27/7), though he stressed that “he wasn’t happy with the result.” Ultimately though, the result of the game played at SV Westfalia Rhynern’s ground wasn’t the most important thing.

FC Schalke 04 played Leeds United in a friendly match on Saturday (27/07), but were beaten 2-0 at SV Westfalia Rhynern’s ground in their dress rehearsal ahead of next weekend’s season opener. An eventful first half somehow ended goalless, before Mateo Joseph (57’) and Joël Piroe (65’) earned victory for the Championship side after the break.

FC Utrecht, who came seventh in the Eredivisie last season, won 2-0 at S04’s training ground. The game was played behind closed doors due to the Taylor Swift concert at the VELTINS-Arena this evening.

Aydin scores only goal in friendly win against Verl

Over 3,000 fans, including 1,083 travelling supporters, were in attendance for Schalke’s first friendly after the training camp in Mittersill on Thursday night (18/7). Mehmet-Can Aydin scored the only goal of the game in Verl against the third-division opponents (24’).

Ron Schallenberg: Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces

Ron Schallenberg spent two years on loan at SC Verl from SC Paderborn 07 between 2018 and 2020, playing a total of 57 games in all competitions and winning promotion to the third division. Bad weather causes an early finish – S04 lose 4-2 to FC Midtjylland

FC Schalke 04’s first friendly during their training camp at the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern ended early due to bad weather in Saalfelden. The score in the 82nd minute was 4-2 to FC Midtjylland. The Royal Blues actually led 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Moussa Sylla and Paul Seguin.
