GAZPROM remains FC Schalke 04's main sponsor

Originally, GAZPROM reserved the right to cancel contract in the event of failing to achieve our sporting goals and the likely resulting relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. However, after many years of a close, fruitful partnership, the energy company has decided to stick by the Gelsenkirchen club in a show of solidarity and support in these difficult times. FC Schalke 04 and the Russian energy company came to an agreement during a final round of discussions in Russia, where not only contract negotiations, but also the current situation and the economic and sporting expectations were discussed.

The agreement between the two parties is valid for at least three seasons. The contents and economic conditions of the contract extension will remain undisclosed by both parties.

„With this extension, which is made irrespective of league, GAZPROM is making a strong statement of loyalty and solidarity, thus contributing to the economic stability of the club,” explained Matthias Warnig, chairman of the board at Nord Stream 2 AG and member of the FC Schalke 04 supervisory board.

At the same time, through this validation from our main sponsors, we feel the expectation and stimulus to get Schalke 04 back on the path to success on the pitch.
