Darko Churlinov and Yusuf Kabadayi to leave S04 following the end of their loan spells

Following the end of his season-long loan at FC Schalke 04, Yusuf Kabadayi will return to FC Bayern München. Darko Churlinov, who joined the Royal Blues on loan in January 2024, will return to Burnley FC.

“We would like to thank Yusuf and Darko for the time and efforts for S04,” Marc Wilmots said on behalf of the club’s sporting management. “We wish them both all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.”

Kabadayi featured in 24 competitive games for the Royal Blues this past season, scoring four goals. Churlinov made 10 appearances in the second half of the season, scoring once.

Ben Manga joins FC Schalke 04

The Royal Blues have bolstered their sporting management team with the addition of Ben Manga, who has become the new director of squad planning, scouting and the Knappenschmiede youth academy. Manga has signed a long-term contract at the club and will be responsible for Schalke’s senior and youth teams alongside sporting director Marc Wilmots with immediate effect. Both Manga and Wilmots will report directly to Schalke CEO, Matthias Tillmann.

Gerald Asamoah to leave Schalke 04 at the end of the season

Gerald Asamoah will leave FC Schalke 04 at the end of the current season. The first-team manager and the Royal Blues’ board came to an agreement. The position of “first-team manager” will no longer be required for the new season as a result of the necessary internal restructuring. Gerald Asamoah’s contract, which expires in June 2024, will not be extended for this reason. He will work towards a smooth transition within the first-team set-up together with the club until the end of the season.

Marc Wilmots appointed new sporting director of FC Schalke 04

FC Schalke 04 have appointed Marc Wilmots as their new sporting director, as part of a restructuring of the club’s sporting management team. The 54-year-old Belgian put pen to paper on a long-term deal on Wednesday (3/1). André Hechelmann will take up the newly-created role of technical director.
