Brandon Soppy to undergo thigh surgery

FC Schalke 04 will be without Brandon Soppy for the rest of the season. The Frenchman has been struggling with thigh issues for a number of weeks to the point where surgery has become a necessity.

The full-back’s operation has been scheduled for 6th May. Soppy will be unavailable for Schalke’s final three 2. Bundesliga matches. Sporting director Marc Wilmots explained, “Brandon has a problem with a tendon in his thigh which is preventing him from playing to the best of his ability.”

“When it became clear a few weeks ago that Brandon would have to have an operation to prevent any long-term problems, he stated that he wanted to play as many games as possible before the surgery. Brandon played until he simply couldn’t anymore. We’re thankful to him for that – it was a big commitment to the club. We wish him a speedy recovery!”
