Miron Muslic: A great experience for our young bunch of lads

With players away on international duty, several Knappen rested and a number also out injured, Miron Muslic had anything but a full squad to choose from for Thursday’s friendly (13/11) at FC Twente to mark the Dutch club’s 60th anniversary. A number of players from Schalke’s academy therefore got the chance to impress in front of a big crowd in Enschede.

S04 defeated 1-0 in friendly to mark FC Twente’s anniversary

FC Schalke 04 played a friendly away against FC Twente on Thursday night (13/11) at De Grolsch Veste to mark the Dutch club’s 60th anniversary. 25,000 fans in Enschede saw the hosts win 1-0 courtesy of Daan Rots’ goal in the 53rd minute.

Miron Muslic: Valuable experience against a quality side

FC Twente have kindly invited the Royal Blues to help celebrate the Eredivisie club’s 60th birthday this week. Schalke 04 will head to the Netherlands this Thursday (13/11) to take part in a celebratory friendly match against the hosts. “Of course, I’m very aware of the special bond between FC Twente and Schalke 04, particularly the close fan friendship there,” said head coach Miron Muslic.

The ‘keeper played the first 45 minutes of the goalless draw against FC Twente. “It felt good to be back between the sticks,” said Karius, who suffered a calf injury in the game away against Fürth 111 days ago.

Miron Muslic: Both games are of great importance

FC Schalke 04 will wrap up their fourth week of pre-season with two friendlies in the space of 24 hours this weekend. On Saturday (19/07), the Royal Blues will face Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente at the Parkstadion, before travelling to face Westphalian Oberliga club Rot Weiss Ahlen at the Wersestadion the following day. Both matches will kick off at 14:00 CEST.

Simon Terodde: Anticipate those situations and be in the right place

It was the type of goal that Simon Terodde has scored so often in his career. In the 40th minute, Schalke’s number 9 found himself in the perfect position for any centre forward. Tobias Mohr whipped in a dangerous cross, which Terodde let run through to Kenan Karaman. FC Twente’s Gijs Smal couldn’t get the desired connection on his clearance and the ball fell into the path of the skipper, who smashed it past Lars Unnerstall from close range.
