FC Schalke 04 were beaten 2-1 away to Hertha BSC on matchday 11 on Sunday night (23/10). Lucas Tousart put the home team ahead, but his goal was cancelled out by Florent Mollet’s late equaliser. Wilfried Kanga then got a winning goal just before the final whistle for Hertha.

Hertha game can go ahead

Tuesday’s PCR tests (11 May) confirmed a further positive coronavirus case in the FC Schalke 04 first team. The player in question is now in strict isolation within the quarantine training camp. He is now the third player with a positive coronavirus test result. The other two players were already isolating at home before the quarantine training camp began. Four other players, who were categorised in ‘contact group one’ are also under quarantine.

S04 take on Hertha BSC in rescheduled fixture

FC Schalke 04 will host Hertha BSC in the VELTINS-Arena on Wednesday (12 May, 18:00 CEST) in the rescheduled Matchday 31 fixture. "We will work on a strategy with the players in order to play a good game and get as much as possible out of it. That’s our focus," said head coach Dimitrios Grammozis. "We are aware that we need to show a different side to us from the one in the second half against Hoffenheim," he underlined.

Two positive PCR tests – Hertha game not currently at risk

Monday’s (10.05) PCR testing resulted in two positive covid-19 cases among the FC Schalke 04 first team squad. This includes yesterday’s suspected case following a round of quick testing. Both players are currently self-isolating at home and are asymptomatic, while another affected person has had no contact with first team members since last Friday (7th May).

Home game against Hertha rescheduled

A new date for the postponed home game against Hertha BSC has been announced. S04 will take on the side from the capital on Wednesday, 12th May (18:00 CEST).

Home game against Hertha BSC postponed

Matchday 31's home game against Hertha BSC cannot take place on Saturday, April 24th (15:30 CEST) as originally planned. The DFL has postponed the match due to the entire Hertha first team being ordered to quarantine by the local health authority after a spate of positive Covid-19 cases at the club.
