Martin Fraisl: I’ve recharged my batteries

Ahead of the birth of his child in the summer, the goalkeeper wants to be as successful with Schalke 04 as possible. In an interview with schalke04.de, the Austrian spoke about preparations for the second half of the season, the team’s current points tally, the first game back against Holstein Kiel and his compatriot Benedikt Pichler, who is currently Kiel’s top scorer.

In his three games between the sticks, S04 have won 2-0 in Rostock, beaten Ingolstadt 3-0 at home and recorded a 1-0 victory in Hannover. The Austrian has therefore won three games from three and is yet to concede a single goal! He is hoping that this great run can be continued in Saturday’s home game against Dynamo Dresden (23/10).

The 28-year-old Austrian made his debut between the sticks for Royal Blue during Tuesday’s 7-0 friendly win against SSVg Velbert. The keeper now wants to work hard to play an important role in a successful season for the club.

S04 put seven past SSVg Velbert in pre-season friendly

FC Schalke 04 faced SSVg Velbert in a friendly on Tuesday night (27/7), winning 7-0 against the fifth-division side. Marvin Pieringer scored a hat-trick, with Amine Harit (2), Kerim Calhanoglu and Can Bozdogan all getting on the scoresheet. The match was arranged on short notice and took place on one of the training grounds at the Ernst-Kuzorra-Weg. For organisational reasons, the match had to take place behind closed doors. Future friendlies will take place with spectators in attendance, as usual.
