Thomas Reis: A different kind of energy in the second half

An entertaining evening at the VELTINS-Arena ended in all three points for the Royal Blues thanks to a late winner. Thomas Reis and his opposite number Ole Werner spoke to the media after the game, as did Sebastian Polter and Rodrigo Zalazar.

Thomas Reis: Put ourselves in a good position

FC Schalke 04 will be aiming to get back to winning ways at home to Werder Bremen on Saturday (29/4) at 18:30 CEST. “We want to win to put us in a good position for the final four matchdays,” said Thomas Reis ahead of the clash with the fellow promoted side, who are pretty much safe from relegation after beating Hertha BSC 4-2 last time out.

Tom Krauß: Let our rivals know we’re still here

Focus turns towards Frankfurt: Cut out mistakes, take chances

The Royal Blues’ biggest shortcoming in the friendly match against Werder Bremen (14/1) was the missed the chances, especially in the first half. Several mistakes led to the only goal of the day by Niclas Füllkrug. The Schalke players could, however, take some positives over the course of the game against Werder.

Thomas Reis: A lot of effort for no reward

Schalke had a number of chances to score against Werder Bremen in the 1-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon (14/1), the final friendly before the Bundesliga returns with a trip to Frankfurt. Soichiro Kozuki, Danny Latza and Simon Terodde were all denied by Jiri Pavlenka, while Tom Krauß headed over the bar from a corner. Despite all those opportunities, Niclas Füllkrug’s opener remained the only goal of the game.

Alex Král: It was a step in the right direction

Alongside Werder Bremen’s Romano Schmid, Alex Král was the fastest player on the pitch during Saturday’s match (05.11). The Czech was always involved in the action, showed lots of drive to get in front of goal and was almost able to celebrate his first goal in a Schalke 04 shirt. He was able to enjoy his 17th minute goal briefly before it was ruled out due to Kenan Karaman, who provided the assist, being in an offside position in the build up.

Thomas Reis: We deserved a point

It was another disappointing result for Schalke on Saturday night. S04 were beaten 2-1 by Werder despite a strong performance up north in Bremen. Head coaches Thomas Reis and SVW’s Ole Werner spoke to the media after the game, as well as striker Simon Terodde.
