Goncalo Paciencia: A small step in the right direction

Goncalo Paciencia secured the first point of the season for the Royal Blues with his header in the 69th minute against Union Berlin on Sunday (18/10). But the striker wasn’t entirely satisfied after the final whistle. “We absolutely wanted to win,” says the 26-year-old.

In the end, Paciencia thinks that the draw was a small step in the right direction. “We’re in a difficult period at the moment, but I think everyone could see that we played better than in the last game,” he says. “We were more organised defensively and had our moments going forward too. We need to build on that.”

Paciencia says that the new head coach Manuel Baum prepared the side well for the match against Union: “We worked hard in the last two weeks, and we need to keep that up. The coach pushes us every day.”
