Embolo assists, Sané wins with a clean sheet

Breel Embolo started in a European Qualifier on Saturday (23/3), bagging himself an assist in the process, while Salif Sané celebrated a good result with his side as they won their last qualifier for the African Cup of Nations.

Switzerland lived up to their role as favourites in their match-up, beating Gerorgia 2-0. Breel Embolo started the game in front of 54,000 fans in Tiflis. In the 54th minute, Embolo set up the first goal of the game which was turned in by Stuttgart’s Steven Zuber. The preliminary work was done by Embolo, while Zuber was there to collect the long ball and slot it into the far corner. The second goal was scored by Denis Zakaria of Borussia Mönchengladbach (80’). Embolo played 84 minutes in total and was involved in many good offensive moves.

Switzerland play again on Tuesday (26/3). The clash with Denmark is certain to be an interesting match-up for Breel Embolo and his side.

Sané plays the full 90

Senegal, who had already qualified for the African Cup of Nations ahead of kick-off, won their last group stage game against Madagascar 2-0. Salif Sané was in the starting XI and played the full 90 minutes. Both goals were scored by M’Baye Niang of Stade Rennes (27’, 56’).

After having qualified for the tournament, Senegal will test their strength on Tuesday (26/3) in a friendly against Mali.
