“We’re really pleased to have signed another key player in Marcin Kaminski,” said Peter Knäbel, board member for sport and communication. “On the pitch, we were impressed by his defensive qualities as well as his ability on the ball, while he also has a lot of experience – especially in pressure situations. He will be a real asset to us.”

I was desperate to be a part of the new team that should provide the fans and the club with better times on the pitch.

“When Schalke made contact, I didn’t have to think long about it,” revealed Kaminski. “I was desperate to be a part of the new team that should provide the fans and the club with better times on the pitch. In order to do that, we will need to be fully focused from day one.”

The 29-year-old came through the Lech Poznan academy and went on to make his professional debut there. Overall, the defender played 158 times in the Polish Ekstraklasa, before moving to VfB Stuttgart in 2016. He was under contract at the Swabians for five years, which includes one season spent on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Kaminski has so far played 55 games in the Bundesliga and 32 matches in the second tier in Germany.
