S04 away to Hamburger SV on the first matchday of the new season

Just like two years ago, FC Schalke 04 will take part in the opening game of the new 2. Bundesliga season – and once again it will be against Hamburger SV. However, this time the game will be played at the Volksparkstadion rather than at the VELTINS-Arena. The match has been scheduled for Friday, 28th July (20:30 CEST).

FC Schalke 04’s first home game is against 1. FC Kaiserslautern a week after the opener in Hamburg (4th-6th August). The clash with friends 1. FC Nürnberg in the first half of the season will be away at the Max-Morlock-Stadion on matchday 12 (3rd-5th November).

Last day in Fürth

Schalke’s final game will also be away from home. S04 will end the season on Sunday, 19th May 2024 (15:30 CEST) at SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

“The fact that our first game of the season is the one to kick off the whole league makes it even more exciting. Facing HSV first is a real challenge, but one we are looking forward to,” said sporting director André Hechelmann. “We have started pre-season this week and want to be as best prepared as we can be for the first matchday. We will put lots of hard work in over the coming weeks. A quick look at our opponents makes you realise how even and attractive this league is. We’re excited to face big clubs like Kaiserslautern and Braunschweig after the opener against HSV.”

The DFL will announce the exact dates and times a few weeks before each game. The only games scheduled right now are S04’s first one and all the fixtures on matchday 34.
