Andreas Vindheim: I want to create chances and be successful with this team

… his first impressions:

The team have taken me in really well. Every single one of them – players, staff, coaches and executives – have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel really at home. I knew Victor Pálsson before moving here – we’ve got some mutual friends. I’m also familiar with Ralf Fährmann, as he was at my former club, SK Brann Bergen, for a few months a couple of years ago.

… his decision to sign for Schalke:

When I heard that Schalke were interested in signing me, my first impulse was that I wanted to move. I told my agent exactly that.

… his new club:

Anyone who likes football in Europe has heard of FC Schalke 04 and their fantastic fans. The club has a huge amount of great history and a lot of exciting and impressive European campaigns in the recent past. Unfortunately things haven’t been going too well in the last year, but nevertheless it’s still a huge and powerful club.

… his skills and qualities on the pitch:

It’s always difficult to describe yourself. I see myself as a player who can do well in both defence and attack, and is always looking to create chances from my wide positions. I played in the 3-5-2 system last season at Sparta Prague, but also at Malmö FF, my former club – under a German head coach in Uwe Rösler. I can play in other formations though, of course. No matter what position and formation I’m in, I will always give 100%. Away from the pitch, I’m a pretty quiet and chill guy.

… his goals:

I want to help the team to have a good rest of the season – we’ll see what happens at the end of the day, but one thing is clear: this club belongs in the top division. Hopefully we’ll be able to get going against Holstein Kiel.
