Simon Terodde: We had enough chances to score
With the score at 0-0 in the closing stages on Easter Sunday (31/3), Schalke’s players and fans had hope of one final chance for a winner. “In my eyes we should have had a penalty for handball. When you see what happened again afterwards, it’s really tough to take,” says Simon Terodde. The captain does, however, recognise that there is room for criticism of the team’s performance: “We had enough chances to score.”
The Knappen had a number of top-class individual performances in the first half. “But sometimes a challenge came in at the last second; sometimes we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal,” reflected the striker, who led a solid display for his side in the first hour of the game. “Unfortunately, Patrick Drewes was on top form for that part of the match,” said Terodde of KSC’s goalkeeper.
Schalke’s game began to falter around the hour mark, according to Schalke’s number 9. “We have to look at the last 30 minutes critically. We were on top for a long time, but we have to accept the final score.”

Break the mould of recent away performances at Hannover
When assessing the result, said Terodde, it should not be forgotten that the Baden side came into the game on the back of a goal glut in their 7-0 win over 1. FC Magdeburg. “They could play freely,” reported the attacker. Despite that, according to Terodde, the aim in any home game must be to win.
Terodde and his Schalke team-mates will be targeting three points away at Hannover 96 on Sunday (7/4). The Knappen will be looking to resolve their issues in front of goal which have plagued them on the road of late. “We have to play differently away from home, that has to be the focus this week,” concluded Terodde.
