Simon Terodde: We had enough chances to score

With the score at 0-0 in the closing stages on Easter Sunday (31/3), Schalke’s players and fans had hope of one final chance for a winner. “In my eyes we should have had a penalty for handball. When you see what happened again afterwards, it’s really tough to take,” says Simon Terodde. The captain does, however, recognise that there is room for criticism of the team’s performance: “We had enough chances to score.”

The 35-year-old announced his decision on Tuesday (4/4) in a meeting with Peter Knäbel, board member for sport, which was carried out in good faith. It is the shared aim of the club and the player to fully focus on the all-important relegation battle through early communication.
