Dates for the 2023/24 season outlined

The German Football Association’s (DFB) presidential committee outlined the key dates for the 2022/23 season on Friday afternoon. The new Bundesliga season will begin on the weekend of 18th to 20th August, with the 2. Bundesliga starting three weeks earlier on 28th July.

The winter break has been scheduled for after matchday 16 (19th-20th December 2023) and the Bundesliga will recommence on 12th January 2024. For the 2. Bundesliga, the winter break will take place following matchday 17 and the league will be on hold from 18th December 2023 to 19th January 2024. The final Bundesliga matchday will be on 18th May 2024, with the second division coming to its conclusion the following day on the 19th. The relegation play-offs will take place on 23rd and 27th May.

The first round of the DFB-Pokal will take place on the second weekend of August (11-14th), with the second round taking place on 31st October and 1st November 2023. The round of 16 will take place on the 5th and 6th December and the quarterfinals are scheduled for 30th and 31st January and 6th and 7th February 2024. The semi-finals are set to take place on the 2nd and 3rd April, before the final in Berlin on 25th May 2024.
