Alexander Nübel banned for four matches

The DFB have given Alexander Nübel a four-match ban after his reckless tackle on Sunday against Frankfurt. The goalkeeper has also been fined €12,000. Both the player and the club have both accepted the decision.

Schalke’s number 35 will miss the fixtures against Wolfsburg, Freiburg, Gladbach and Bayern. He will be available again for the away game at Hertha on 31st January 2020.

Nübel rushed off his line in Sunday’s 1-0 win against Frankfurt and caught Mijat Gacinovic in the chest as he attempted to clear his lines. Referee Felix Zwayer subsequently showed him a red card.

Schalke’s captained apologised to Gacinovic directly after the incident as well as after the game. The Serbian midfielder accepted his apology.
