Amine Harit: “The best goal of my career’

After his winning goal against the Zerofivers the attacker did a heart celebration, as a gesture to his family. “I told my wife before the game that I would score a goal for her,” explained the 22-year-old who has recently become a father. Harit believes that the birth of his daughter Alijah has given him even more confidence. “My family makes me very happy.”

The Moroccan is proving week in week out that his form has improved drastically, after an underwhelming 2018/19 season. Harit also shone in last week’s 5-1 victory over Paderborn, scoring a brace. The midfielder added to his numbers against Mainz, not only scoring but also providing the assist for Suat Serdar’s opener.

Not enough room for a left-footed strike

“I saw that the far corner was open but I didn’t have enough space to get a shot away with my left foot,” explains Harit. Therefore, the technician reached into his bag of tricks and finished it off with the outside of his right boot. “It was both the best and the most important goal of my career so far,” he said enthusiastically. He then added, “But I also haven’t scored that many goals yet.” If Harit manages to maintain his form, he will surely grab many more goals in the coming weeks and months.

The Moroccan explains how he will spend his day off following the victory, “I will sit on the sofa and watch all the other teams play.” He will certainly keep an eye on RB Leipzig’s trip to Werder Bremen, with the Royal Blues facing off against the Red Bulls next Saturday (28/9/19). “It won’t be easy,” claims Harit. “But we travel to Leipzig full of confidence and will do everything we can. I believe in us!”
