Amine Harit: I’m happy to score but the result is frustrating

The Royal Blues hoped for more than a point in their home fixture against 1. FC Köln today as Ralf Fährmann, Leon Goretzka and Amine Harit told schalke04, after the final whistle.

Amine Harit gegen Köln

Ralf Fährmann:

We clearly had control of the game and the biggest chances for the most part. Unfortunately, we didn’t make that count. We have to weigh up the pros and cons and a point isn’t the end of the world. There were a few situations where we weren’t good enough and it prevented us from fully executing our game plan. We knew this would be a tough game. We didn’t let the table get the better of us. We have to keep working hard to turn draws like these into wins.

Leon Goretzka:

We obviously would have preferred to win. We wanted to use the momentum from the derby to our advantage and the fans got behind us. At the break, we still knew one goal wouldn’t be enough. At the end of the day, we led this game twice and failed to get the win and that made it feel like a loss. However, there’s nothing to gain from sticking our head in the sand. We have to regroup and go again on the upcoming fixtures.

Amine Harit:

I’m glad to have scored my first goal in the Veltins Arena. It was a great feeling to finally get off the mark in front of our fans. I want to thank the fans for their support. It was amazing. It’s frustrating to not win. We went to sleep at times and we got punished for that.
