Amine Harit: The win gives us new confidence
Amine Harit could hardly have picked a better time to shine. In his 100th Bundesliga appearance, the 23-year-old scored and provided three assists to help FC Schalke 04 to a 4-0 victory over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. It was the first time that the Moroccan has contributed to four goals in one game for the Royal Blues.
“I’m really happy with the three assists and the goal,” said Harit, whose strong performance was a key factor in Schalke earning that all-important first win of the season.
Harit created the first, second and third goals of the match, all finished off by Matthew Hoppe, with some lovely play. With the ball at his feet, Harit was the perfect bridge between the midfield and the attack and found Hoppe at just the right moments. With ten minutes left on the clock, he capped off a perfect afternoon by firing into the bottom-left corner after a pass from Bastian Oczipka.
Praise from the head coach
“Amine basically just looks to play his way through,” said head coach Christian Gross, who was full of praise for his player after the final whistle. “He worked really hard, ran a lot and got his reward with the assists and his goal. He had an outstanding game.”
For Harit and his teammates, it’s now about using the momentum in the games to come. “This win gives us new confidence,” said Harit, confirming the importance of the victory after such a difficult few months. The team can’t relax now, though, and have to keep working hard. Eintracht Frankfurt are the opposition next Sunday (17/1) in another tough test for the Royal Blues. “We have to give everything for the three points once again,” says Harit.
