Christian Gross: A good point

After the 1-1 draw in Bremen on Saturday (30/1), both coaches agreed that the first half belonged to Christian Gross’ side, while Florian Kohfeldt’s team controlled the second. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar also spoke to the media after the final whistle at the Weserstadion.

Christian Gross

Christian Gross:

We saw a game of two halves today. I was obviously happy with the first period. To play like that away from home was great. However, we need to a work lot harder so that we can put in a similar performance for longer than 45 minutes. Overall, I think it’s a good point, which will help us progress.

Florian Kohfeldt:

The first 45 minutes weren’t good and I made that clear to the team at half time. I was, however, pleased with the second-half performance. We haven’t had a half like that in a long time at the Weserstadion. We had chance after chance and kept on pushing. In the end, only an outstanding Ralf Fährmann and a narrow offside call stopped us.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar:

It felt great to be back in a Schalke shirt. Unfortunately, I couldn’t celebrate a win on my return though. We played well in the first half, but they got better after making several changes at the break. We lost the ball too much, which puts you under pressure. On top of that, we often took the easy option of hitting it long. We can get more out of games if we do this better. I think 1-1 was a fair result in the end. One point is better than none and we need to build on it now.
