Christian Gross: We did some things well, but others badly

Head coaches Christian Gross and Hansi Flick both spoke to the press after Bayern’s 4-0 win on Sunday (24/1). Ralf Fährmann also gave his thoughts on the game to the media.

Christian Gross

Christian Gross:

We did some things really well, but others badly. Their goals came too easily from our perspective. We need to be in position a lot quicker. Above all, we need to improve in the air. Despite the loss, today’s game showed some progress. Our compactness was good, although still not where it needed to be. We need to carry on supporting each other – we can only do this together. I hope Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sead Kolasinac will be able to feature in Bremen, but I can’t predict if they will yet.

Hansi Flick:

I wasn’t completely satisfied with how we played today, although we scored four goals. We should have been better on the ball at times and we let Schalke have a few chances too. At times, it was too easy for them. Nevertheless, I’m really pleased with the nine points that we’ve taken from the last three games. After the defeats in Kiel and Mönchengladbach, it was important that we got some stability back. We’ve now kept two consecutive clean sheets as well.

Ralf Fährmann:

We deserved to lose, but the scoreline was too high – it should have been a two-goal margin. My view was blocked for the final goal so I didn’t see the shot, although I still should have saved it. Bayern were the better team, but we should have taken at least one of our chances. Now we need to dust ourselves down and concentrate on the next game at Werder Bremen. I can promise everybody that we will give our all every single day so that we can get back to winning ways.
