David Wagner: The lads fought hard

It was an intense and hard-fought match with few highlights. We took 10-15 minutes to adjust to our new formation and the game itself. The team reacted well after going behind due to an individual error. The only thing you can ask of the lads in this extremely difficult time is that they fight and give their all. I think they did that. We have a wide range of problems at the moment. We need to keep fighting in the coming weeks and pick up the odd point along the way.

Urs Fischer:

We didn’t make enough of the chances we created. You can always defend the goals you concede better. I think the lads played really well – we did what we had planned to. We can build on this performance.

Daniel Caligiuri:

We would have been happier with the three points. We conceded a goal after a mistake, just like we have been doing in recent weeks. You’re constantly chasing the game then. We grew into the game after the first 15-20 minutes. We played the ball about better and got our equaliser. Things are difficult in our current situation. Taking points is very important. We showed a response today. We were missing some penetration up front, so we’ll take the point.

Alessandro Schöpf:

A draw is a fair result over the full 90 minutes. Both teams struggled to create chances. Union had more in the first half, while we were missing a bit of luck in the second. We wanted to be strong at the back and create chances up front – which we did quite well overall. It wasn’t great, but it was okay. Today was a step in the right direction. Every point is good for us in our current situation.
