Dimitrios Grammozis: We played as a team

Dimitrios Grammozis was satisfied with his side’s performance but not the result on Saturday (3/4). Leverkusen coach Hannes Wolf reflected on his team’s win after the game, while Sead Kolasinac also gave his thoughts.

Dimitrios Grammozis:

I’m absolutely satisfied with the way we performed today. The lads played as a team, threw everything at them and represented our club well. We were a unit and made it difficult for a good team like Leverkusen. We had a good challenge success rate and covered more ground too. On top of that, we had chances, so we’re obviously disappointed that we couldn’t get a point. We had opportunities to score more than one goal. They had a lot of individual quality on the pitch and a side like Leverkusen don’t need many chances to score. Despite the defeat, we took a step in the right direction.

Hannes Wolf:

I’m really, really pleased with the win. At the end of the day, that’s what football’s about. It wasn’t easy for the lads today. We were lacking a bit of fluency in the final third at times, but we were extremely clinical. We also didn’t allow them many chances at the back, although the game became a lot tighter after they made it 2-1.

Sead Kolasinac:

It was a decent performance today, especially in the second half. Our attitude was spot on too. The second goal really came at a bad time. Despite that, we didn’t let our heads drop and we got one back thanks to Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to create any more chances. The final ball was often lacking today. We showed that we don’t give up though. Nevertheless, we’re disappointed to be going home with nothing. The Hunter showed that he doesn’t need many chances to score a goal. Both him and Goncalo Paciencia, who made his comeback today, will help us out up front.
