Domenico Tedesco: A highly deserved win for HSV

One coach lost their first game in six, the other celebrated their first ever Bundesliga win. After the full time whistle in the Volksparkstadion, Domenico Tedesco and Christian Titz reflected on the 3-2 win for Hamburger SV. We noted what they had to say.

Domenico Tedesco:

Congratulations to HSV for a deserved victory. We knew HSV would come at us and they did. We want to press high to force HSV into mistakes but we were the team that made the errors. Both of HSV’s wingers caused us problems and we gave the ball away too cheaply. Our first half performance wasn’t good enough, It looked like we didn’t want to be there. The second half was bettwe as we set up in a 4-4-2. We had a chance at 2-2 with Goretzka and Amine Harit had two good chances but we couldn’t take them.

Christian Titz:

We started very well. After we went 1-0 down, I thought it might not be our day again. The equaliser was thoroghouly deserved and we had a number of chances in the first half. In the second half, we knew Schalke would respond. After the second goal, we had chances to make it 3-1. Then, it was 2-2 all of a sudden. I’m proud of my team that they came back once again after the equaliser. Aaron Hunt’s goal was unbelievable. The win was a well deserved one.
