Domenico Tedesco: "Two points dropped."

Differing opinions among the coaches after the 1-1 draw between Schalke and Hannover. While Domenico Tedesco feels his side wasted their counter attack opportunites, Andre Breitenreiter was very satisfied with his team coming away with a point.

We carried out our gameplan in the first half pretty well. We did not want to give them space and we achieved that. Marko Pjaca was alert throughout and was involved in a lot situations where he could make the difference. But we weren’t able to get in behind them and create enough chances in their box in the first half. They defended very well. But we could have avoided their counter attacks.

We had a few chances to break ourselves, and we could have got that second goal. There we only have ourselves to blame. The way we countered could have been enough to win the next three games. That is a shame. If we had got the second goal the result would have been in the bag. We dropped two points today. As a result we are disappointed.

I think we have deservedly taken a point. All they needed in the first half was one goal to go ahead, but apart from that we stayed alert and disciplined when we didn’t have the ball. We as good as kept them out completely. But we did not create much in the final third ourselves. The shot against the post would not have been harsh on them, but apart from that I do not remember much that we created.

We switched it up at half time and the 4-3-3 worked wonders in the second period. We switched play well and took more risks, and that did lead to some more counter attacks chances for them. We were a bit fortunate that they didn’t get the second goal, but we were worthy of our equaliser. We are very happy with the point.
