Klaas-Jan Huntelaar: We’re making too many decisive mistakes

Both coaches spoke to the press after Gladbach’s 3-0 win auf Schalke on Saturday night (20/3). Klaas-Jan Huntelaar also gave his opinion on the defeat.

Dimitrios Grammozis:

It’s a sobering, disappointing result. We expected so much more. We prepared well this week; the lads were really motivated. I think we were in the game at the start. The mistakes, which are ultimately leading to goals, are really hitting us hard. We were compact and gave away few chances at the start. When we win possession, we don’t get forward into dangerous positions, even just to relieve some pressure. The boys threw everything into the game, but the individual mistakes put us on the path to defeat.

Marco Rose:

We’re very relieved to finally be taking three points back home with us. We were focused right from the start and that showed in our game. We gave up possession too easily a couple times in the first half, and had to get back to defend a counter. In the end, we won 3-0, which is an extremely important result for us at the moment. We now have to build on this after the international break.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar:

Gladbach had more control of the game. We were a bit more defensive and tried to play on the break. We made too many decisive mistakes again today. We should have cleared the ball better for the first goal, the second came from a corner – which happens to us all too often. We’re conceding too many goals and not doing enough going forwards, so we’re right at the bottom. We need to play with more aggression, press more effectively and build up our play better. If we do that, we will start to improve.
