Max Meyer: "We didn't take our chances on the break."

For a long time it looked as though the Royal Blues would collect their first win of the Rückrunde, only for Hannover to hit back with a late eqauliser. Schalke 04 round up the thoughts of the Royal Blues.

If you look at the game as a whole it is a bitter Sunday evening for us. In all we did not play badly at all. Even after the break we created so many counter attack that we had to make more of, and if we had we would have left the pitch as winners for sure. There were enough opportunities to make it two or three nil. We only have ourselves to blame there. It’s a shame that we have dropped two points in the end. The final ball was just lacking but apart from that we played well. It cannot be easy for the fans right now because we are not scoring the goals. We have to take the positives from today, keep our heads up and then the fluidity will come flowing back naturally.

It’s so frustrating that we conceded the equaliser so close to the end. But we only have ourselves to blame based on the second half for only taking a point. We had the opportunities to see the game out earlier. Often it was just one step that was missing and stopping us completing the move. And if you do not take your chances you have to be prepared for the opponent coming back at you. That Ping-Pong goal at the end was very annoying to concede.

Max Meyer

We failed to put the game to bed because wwe didn’t take our chances on the break. We let them get stronger and allowed them back into the game. They probably deserved their equaliser, because they were better in some departments than we were.
