Naldo: Fought until the death

After the goal to get a point in the derby, Naldo was at it again today in Frankfurt as his last minute goal gave Schalke a point.

Alessandro Schöpf:

It was great to start a game after such a long time. With a bit more fortune, I could have topped off my return with a goal but the goalie made an excellent save. Every minute of game time does me good and I noticed I was flagging towards the end of the game. Through playing, I’ll reach the levels I was at prior to the injury. We’re becoming ever closer as a team and we know we can turn games around.

Naldo:

Frankfurt aimed to be compact like us. It was difficult to break them down once we’d gone behind but we managed it and we can be proud of that. We fought until the last second and got a deserved point. I scored the goal with the team behind me. The head coach made the right changes to set us on the path to come back. I’m glad to have got the last minute equaliser but now we need to put it behind us and concentrate on the DFB-Pokal clash with 1. FC Köln. As ever, we simply want to progress.

Bastian Oczipka

Even after going 2-0 down, I believed in us and we’ve played our best when needing to come back. Today we were punished because of two simple mistakes but we kept going and kept in control. Naldo in the last minute is always a weapon for us! We’re heading in the right direction and have to keep working hard to keep that going. We’re still lacking a few things before we come a truly top team. It was strange to come back to Frankfurt but it was enjoyable to return. Now, we want make the next step in the Pokal which will be another tough game.
